Minister for Defence Mr Chan Chun Sing offered the Defence Technology Prize (DTP) to a few groups on the DTP Award Ceremony held on the DSTA Auditorium this afternoon. This award recognises contributions which have helped the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) preserve its sharp edge in defence capabilities.
Speaking on the award ceremony, Mr Chan highlighted that the world has modified, and the necessity to adapt and preserve tempo. He mentioned, “By now, you are all familiar that the geopolitics have changed – the way that we look at the world, and the assumptions we made about the partnerships, the global international and rules-based order. We must leave no stone unturned, and we must not make the wrong assumptions or use outdated assumptions.”
Mr Chan additionally emphasised the significance of taking a long-term perspective and a methods method on functionality improvement. Highlighting how individuals are the spine of Singapore’s defence know-how, he added, “Generations of people who have come before them have contributed to the foundations which now allow them to do what they do today, and for us to award them a prize.”
Established in 1989, the DTP is awarded yearly to people and groups which have made important technological contributions to the defence capabilities of Singapore. The DTP additionally serves to foster technological innovation and encourage breakthroughs in defence science and know-how.
