# Claude Duet Personal AI Agent Released by Anthropic

Anthropic's new virtual assistant, Claude Duet, is available to US-based users who are subscribed to the Pro or Max plans and have joined a waitlist.

A new personal AI agent is joining the market, as Anthropic has released Claude Duet, an always-on virtual assistant that can complete tasks for users even when they're not actively using their devices.

Claude Duet runs on its own dedicated virtual machine and browser, allowing it to access the web and perform various jobs. The agent also integrates with any apps connected to a user's Claude account, expanding its capabilities.

The availability of Claude Duet is currently limited to US-based users who are subscribed to Claude Pro or Max plans. However, there's an additional hurdle to overcome before gaining access: users must first join a waitlist.

To sign up for the waitlist, users can visit Anthropic's website and enter their name, company, email address, and phone type (Android or iPhone). A brief description of the tasks they intend to delegate to Claude Duet is also required.

Anthropic's request for device information is because it offers standalone apps for both Android and iOS, allowing users to interact with Claude Duet directly on their mobile devices.

Anthropic's plan for Claude Duet is taking shape, with the company indicating that it will offer the device as a perk for its Pro subscribers who pay $20 per month. This contrasts with OpenAI's Dot agents, which can currently only be accessed by those on one of OpenAI's own Pro plans. The latter's pricing starts at $100, and OpenAI has recently added an even pricier option at $500 per month.

Claude Duet is not yet available to Team and Enterprise customers, although Anthropic may consider offering it to these groups in the future. During its preview period, Anthropic wants users to test how often Duet messages them, as this could potentially impact their plan limits if checked constantly.

The preview of Claude Duet is also an opportunity for Anthropic to collect feedback on how frequently the device sends messages to users. To avoid using up Pro plan limits too quickly, Duet has been designed to check connected accounts every few hours instead of continuously.

Anthropic has described Claude Duet as a proactive personal agent that can generate daily briefings with action items based on connected apps. Each day, the agent can provide users with a list of tasks they need to complete, helping them stay organized and focused.

Users can delegate various tasks to Claude Duet, such as scheduling meetings or creating forecasts. For example, business owners might task their Duet with generating weekly sales and cashflow dashboards, while scientists could ask their agents to flag research papers related to their area of study as they're published.

Anthropic has designed Claude Duet to be a versatile tool that can handle a wide range of tasks. By connecting various apps to their Claude account, users can unlock the full potential of their personal agent and make it an integral part of their daily workflow.

Claude Duet's proactive approach begins when the app detects that a user is engaged in a chat session, allowing the agent to offer assistance and suggestions in real-time. The agent can also identify tasks that require attention and notify users accordingly.

Duet's ability to anticipate needs stems from its access to data stored within the Claude account, including information collected through interactions with the chatbot itself and any connected apps. This integration enables Duet to provide personalized support and streamline workflows, but it also raises concerns about data sharing and privacy.

Ultimately, the value of Claude Duet will depend on individual users' comfort levels regarding data sharing and their willingness to integrate multiple apps into their account.
