Chef's World Series: a taste of Portugal at Wild by Tart

Port wine was born within the seventeenth century on the terraced slopes of the Douro Valley in northern Portugal, when British retailers, to gird their loins for the journey house, sloshed brandy into their wine to fortify it. The candy, wealthy end result was a roaring success. While port could also be world well-known, Portugal’s rolling temperate landscapes produce a actual range of wines – from the Douro within the north to Alentejo within the south, recognized for its fragrant whites and intensely flavoured reds. Such selection will also be seen within the nation’s massively various delicacies.

We have invited two acclaimed cooks from each of these Portuguese areas to showcase their highlights for a supper membership within the gorgeous occasion area at hip restaurant Wild by Tart. Flying over from Portugal are Arnaldo Azevedo, from newly Michelin-starred Vila Foz in Porto, and João Mourato, of Quinta do Quetzal restaurant, set on the slopes of Alentejo’s Vidigueira, near the oldest recognized Roman vineyard in Portugal. Each dish shall be paired with wine and accompanied by a guided tasting, led by Wines of Portugal Wine Educator Sofia Salvador.
