Goal: scale back imports, construct industrial base, foster tech sovereignty
Burkina Faso’s President Ibrahim Traoré on Friday, Oct. 17, introduced the launch of Faso Andubè, a brand new digital platform designed to spotlight Burkinabè expertise in science and know-how. The initiative goals to join inventors and innovators within the nation and overseas, and help the native manufacturing of “Made in Burkina” equipment.
“We will launch a digital platform that will enable anyone with scientific or technical skills to register. They will then be directed to an incubator currently under construction to help Burkina Faso manufacture its own machines,” Traoré stated.
The platform is envisioned as a hub for nationwide innovation and experience. It permits Burkinabè residents to register and promote their expertise by means of an organized system that gives challenge monitoring, networking alternatives, and participation in industrial and technological applications.
The initiative helps Traoré’s broader aim of selling native experience and mobilizing expertise to strengthen nationwide sovereignty. It comes because the nation works to broaden its industrial base and scale back dependence on imports. According to World Bank information, trade accounted for 29.6% of GDP in 2024, whereas manufacturing represented simply 9.9%.
Faso Andubè goals to function a catalyst for Burkina Faso’s tech innovation ecosystem by offering a digital area for collaboration and visibility. It seeks to determine and help scientific and technical expertise and spur the creation of regionally designed prototypes, agricultural instruments, and industrial gear.
Officials say the challenge is supposed to lay the groundwork for an innovation-driven financial system that enhances technological sovereignty, creates jobs, and strengthens the abilities of younger engineers and technicians.
