# At least 12 killed, more than 300 hurt in strike on Saudi airport, officials say

At least 12 people have been killed and over 300 others injured in a devastating strike on a Saudi airport, according to officials. The victims include four Saudi citizens, two Bangladeshis, and one person each from Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Palestine, and Sudan.

The injured are receiving treatment at various hospitals, with several individuals reported to be in critical condition. This attack marks the latest in a series of assaults on Saudi Arabia as part of the ongoing conflict involving Houthi rebels backed by Iran in neighboring Yemen.

This incident comes amidst heightened tensions between the US and Iran, with President Trump indicating that the US would investigate the airport strike when asked about the possibility.

A social media post from Secretary of State Marco Rubio strongly condemned the recent attacks on the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia by the terrorist Houthis. The post specifically mentioned today's strike on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh that resulted in numerous innocent lives lost, including an American citizen.

The Houthis have yet to claim responsibility for Saturday's attack on the airport. However, it is worth noting that they did claim attacks earlier this week on King Khalid that killed three Saudis, including a pilot, amid a surge in strikes targeting various Saudi airports, military facilities and oil infrastructure.

Riyadh airport operations have come to a standstill following the latest escalation of strikes against Saudi Arabia. The suspension of airport operations was announced by Saudi civil aviation authorities, who also issued an official notice to aviators indicating that the halt would last until midnight.

Flights were redirected to other destinations as a result of the temporary closure, according to tracking data from Flightradar24. The attacks on Saudi Arabia's oil industry and military infrastructure have sent shockwaves through global markets and the region, amid growing tensions with Houthi forces in Yemen.

At least 291 flights at Riyadh airport had been canceled over the past 24 hours, according to flight-tracking site FlightAware, highlighting the significant disruptions caused by the Houthi attacks. The strikes also damaged three planes on the ground, as confirmed by two regional officials who spoke on condition of anonymity due to their unauthorized status in briefing the media.

The Saudi national carrier reported that one of its aircraft was damaged while grounded, with no passengers on board at the time. This incident is part of a larger pattern of Houthi attacks, including strikes on ships after the war in Gaza began, which they justified as showing solidarity with Palestinians.
