# Apple Unveils New Macs Including MacBook Pro with PROLED XDR Display

The tech giant's latest lineup includes a touchscreen laptop and updated iPad mini, but critics say prices are too high.

In a flurry of releases, Apple has unveiled three new Macs alongside an updated iPad mini in recent weeks. The star of the show is undoubtedly the MacBook Pro with PROLED XDR Display, the first touchscreen laptop from the tech giant.

This revolutionary device boasts a high-end display, but its price tag reflects that. Senior reporter Devindra Hardawar notes that while it's an excellent machine, the marquee feature - a touchscreen - doesn't necessarily add to the overall user experience.

The new MacBook Pro M6 has also been put through its paces by Devindra, and it emerged as the top scorer among the batch. The main difference between this model and others is the upgraded Apple silicon, but naturally, comes with an increased price tag.

For those who prefer a desktop setup, there's now a new iMac available. However, associate editor Steve Dent expresses disappointment at the lack of a more substantial upgrade, feeling that the higher price point makes it harder to justify the enhanced performance.

The iPad mini has also been updated, but unfortunately, deputy news editor Nathan Ingraham found some notable omissions. Despite sporting an A20 Pro chip, this device is still priced high and lacks features such as Face ID or a higher display refresh rate.

Apple's latest lineup of devices may have generated excitement among tech enthusiasts, but it remains to be seen whether these upgrades will translate into tangible benefits for consumers.

The recent influx of new devices from various manufacturers has brought about a mix of excitement and concern among tech enthusiasts. As we've seen in our reviews, some of these devices have impressive hardware, but their software still needs refinement.

Google's entry into the laptop market with its Googlebook OS is one such example. Despite having great hardware, the operating system is not yet fully developed. This has been a common theme across several reviews, including those of the Lenovo Googlebook 15 and Dell XPS Googlebook. Both devices cost around $1,000.

In other news, Amazon has released new Kindle devices this fall, with two models receiving special attention from our team. The Signature Editions of the Colorsoft and Paperwhite Kindles have been put through their paces, with some reviewers expressing reservations about the added features justifying the increased price tag.

The Paperwhite devices continue to impress, but the pricier option may not offer enough value for consumers. Meanwhile, Cherlynn Low's review of the Colorsoft Signature Edition highlighted some concerns about its additional features.

As wearables continue to gain popularity, new releases from Fitbit and Samsung have been making waves in the market. The elegantly designed Fitbit Edge has won praise for striking a balance between aesthetics and functionality, while the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2's display, battery life, and health tracking tools have also received high marks.
