# Android Users Can Now Track Devices with Google's Find My Feature

The "Notify when left behind" feature is now available to select Android users, allowing them to receive notifications if they leave one of their registered devices.

A highly anticipated update is now available for Google's Find My feature, bringing a much-needed tracking capability to Android users. The "Notify when left behind feature sends notifications to registered devices when they are separated from your phone, with one notable exception: it won't alert you if you've simply left a device at home.

This feature was first shown off in October and has been available for certain third-party trackers like Chipolo and Moto Tag. However, its availability is currently limited, and some Android users may be wondering when they can expect to use it with other devices. For now, the feature appears to only work with a select few peripherals.

The Notify when left behind feature is a highly useful tracking capability that has been available on iOS for some time. Any device set up on your Find My network is compatible with this feature, including laptops, earbuds, and smartwatches. This means that Android users can now enjoy the same level of convenience and peace of mind as their iOS counterparts.

Some devices are still not supported by this feature, at least for now. A test of popular headphones like Sony's WH-1000XM6 and Google's Pixel Buds Pro 2 revealed that they do not currently have access to Notify when left behind. It remains to be seen whether support for these types of peripherals will be added in the future.

The feature in question allows Android users to receive notifications if they leave one of their registered devices at an unsaved location. This means if you're out and about and your phone is left behind, for example, you'll get a notification telling you exactly which device was left where.

However, there's currently a limitation on this feature - it only works when leaving the home address associated with your Google account. It remains to be seen whether users will be able to customize their safe locations in the future.

The feature is currently limited to specific Bluetooth trackers, but photos shared by 9to5Google suggest that other compatible devices may soon support this feature as well. The images show a Notify when left behind" tab at the bottom of the menu for certain trackers within the Find Hub app.

This new feature was reportedly hinted at in previous updates to Google Play Services, with users apparently able to enable it when registering a new device with their Find Hub.

Google's upcoming feature will allow users to track multiple devices from a single hub, including third-party manufacturers' products such as Sony headphones and Motorola trackers. This expansion of device tracking capabilities is expected to be rolled out once the feature matures.

The Find Hub will likely have a setting to enable notifications for all connected devices, making it easier to keep tabs on them. Android's compatibility with multiple manufacturers gives it an edge over Apple in this regard. Users can currently add various devices to their hub, including Samsung Galaxy smartwatches.

If Google expands the feature to include Fast Pair-compatible devices like Bluetooth trackers and laptops, users will be able to easily manage a large collection of devices from a single platform.
